BGREAT believes that choosing the most <strong>unusual<\/strong> option will provide the <strong>best rewards<\/strong>. Come with us to discover the unknown paths of these islands. It is with great pleasure that we will accompany you on this journey!<\/p>\n<p>Of all the trails on the island of S\u00e3o Miguel, we decided to highlight the <strong>Lagoa do Fogo trail<\/strong>, located in the municipality of Ribeira Grande. When traveling this unusual path with about <strong>11 km<\/strong> and during approximately <strong>4 hours<\/strong>, surrounded by green landscapes and a <strong>magnificent view<\/strong> of the lagoon that gives it its name, we get a different perspective of the lagoon and the nature that surrounds it.<\/p>\n<p>When starting the trail, we expect an uphill of approximately 4 km. <strong>Comfortable shoes<\/strong>, <strong>sunscreen<\/strong> and <strong>water<\/strong> were essential goods that helped us to conquer this path. When we finally reach a water tank, we travel along a flatter path, walking beside a canal where we can see some <strong>trout<\/strong> of different sizes. Also known as <strong><em>levada<\/em><\/strong>, this bypass channel sculpted by hand and cut into rocks, was designed to transport water around the island of S\u00e3o Miguel. At this stage it is possible to observe several <strong>endemic flora<\/strong> such as Azorean Blueberry (<em>Vaccinium cylindraceum<\/em>), Azorean Heather (<em>Erica azorica<\/em>), and Laurustinus (<em>Viburnum treleasei<\/em>) among others.<\/p>\n<p>We continue the walk until we find a small dam, which dated 1998 and its function would be to capture most of the springs from the natural filtration of Lagoa do Fogo. Here, we took a break to absorb all the <strong>beauty<\/strong> of the surrounding nature. The blue of the sky and the green of the landscape are perfectly reflected in the crystal clear water. A small hidden <strong>paradise<\/strong>! During the final part of the trail, we continue along Ribeira da Praia to the banks of Lagoa do Fogo, where we are faced with a wonderful view of the <strong>second largest<\/strong> lagoon of S\u00e3o Miguel.
